There are two knit gatherings going down, not at my house this time, but at Athan's Brighton (not to be confused with Athan's Brookline, but it has the same wonderful offerings, and more).
Saturday, July 28, 2007, beginning at 10:00 am
Sunday, August 5, 2007, beginning at 10:30 am
If you are a Raveler, and specifically read the Boston Yarn Party group, then you will already have seen this. In any case, here are some details:
Athan's Brighton can be accessed by the 86 bus, which crosses the Red Line and three branches of the Green Line.
Red Line
The 86 bus, which originates at Sullivan Station, wends its way through Harvard Square. Be warned: the 86 does not go through the underground busway, but makes the following stops:
- on Mass Ave, near the southern tip of the Cambridge Common, then
- on Eliot, in roughly in front of the Charles Hotel, then
- on JFK, right after the bus turns right from Eliot
You will want to get off in Brighton Center. There are two stops right in Brighton Center coming from the north:
- on Market, in front of the bank and across from Kabloom
- on Chestnut Hill, in front of the auto body shop and across from the Veronica Smith Senior Center
Note that Market and Chestnut Hill are the same street except in name. Riding along, you feel as though you are continuing on one long thoroughfare as you proceed from one to the other.
Once you leave the bus, it is a very short walk to Athan's, which is on the north side of Washington between Leicester and Parsons, across from the big church.
Green Line
The 86 bus services three branches of the green line:
- the D line, at Reservoir, where it originates
- the C line, about a block south of Beacon on Chestnut Hill Avenue, closest to Cleveland Circle
- the B line, on Chestnut Hill Avenue, neat the intersection with Comm Ave (details on this one are fuzzy)
You will want to get off in Brighton Center. There are two stops right in Brighton Center coming from the south:
- on Chestnut Hill, in front of the Veronica Smith Senior Center, and across from the auto body shop
- on Market, in front of Kabloom and across from the bank
Note that Market and Chestnut Hill are the same street except in name. Riding along, you feel as though you are continuing on one long thoroughfare as you proceed from one to the other.
Once you leave the bus, it is a very short walk to Athan's, which is on the north side of Washington between Leicester and Parsons, across from the big church.
If you are coming from points west or east, then the 57 bus is for you (and if this is true, you probably know all about bus travel). For anyone needing more details about public transit, I am happy to provide them.

well, amazing though it seems, I may actually be able to go next Sunday...also you've prodded me into finally signing up on the ravelry thingie :)
I don't think I've met up with any knitters since my neuro class started; it's a weird feeling.
Of course, I'm also weird.

*sniff* sounds like a fun time - that darn life thing (moving!) getting in the way of my knitting, sheesh.
Have fun! :-)

That sounds like fun! I so wish I lived in Boston. Especially in the summer. If I win the lottery, I'd spend summer/fall in Boston and winter/spring in CA.....
