out of the blue

Last spring, I published some papers. Just before the election, Danielle and Mafia sent me a beautiful package to mark the occasion:

Six skeins of Shakespeare by Artful Yarns, in a great colorway.

The perfect gift for a geek who likes miniature tools! Just under four inches each, and with my trademark 0.7 mm lead. Not shown: eight more, including green and black.

Just the card to tie the package together, Big Lebowski style.

Chocolate? Oh sure, there was chocolate. It came in a box clearly labeled "Emergency Chocolate," and there was certainly an emergency since I got the package.

Glad to see you posting! I've been wondering how you were, but of course I haven't been posting either, so who am I to talk. But just enjoyed your last three posts. I voted from London and watched the election from Singapore. Cried like a baby in my hotel bed watching CNN. Missed your birthday, too, but it looks like you got lots of nice gifties. I'm hard at work on an homage to that seedstitch lenghtwise scarf you made last winter. If I can ever manage to catch up I'll post a photo. Miss you!

Those stitch markers are gor-ge-ous. I'm contemplating a trip to the bead store. (Not that the rest of the package is anything to sneeze at either.)

I'm glad you enjoyed! I wish I had my act together and had sent the package sooner, but the sentiment was still there. I bought a whole ton of these pencils for knitty gifts, because what knitter doesn't need a pencil in her knit kit? (PS -- great photos in this post!)
