Piece is not yet blocked; hence the lack of a good shot of the collar and front edging. The shawl was knit from the top down, beginning with a provisional cast on. The edging was knit last and in the round, beginning with the heaviest (purple silk) yarn. The first edging row was knit into live stitches at the top and bottom, and using picked up stitches in the front opening. The heaviest yarn was also used for binding off, which allowed the bound off edge to not cinch in.
Now that you mention it ...
Everyone, thank you for all of your compliments! The admiration of fellow knitters is a treasure.
Dorothy, that's exactly what I was going for.
Zeska, for me, that's the constant struggle: indulge in color without creating a circus.
Heather, I think the blocking will primarily serve to straighten the edges. We will see!
Thea, the Kid Silk Haze really is a great stash enhancer. The next time I feel compelled to pick up yarn but without a clear plan, it will be Kid Silk Haze.

That is really lovely.

That is really beautiful! I really love the edging. It defines and showcases the whole thing without overpowering it.

Oh, lovely :). It manages to be both beautiful and colourful which is a rare quality and the edging around it is really nice finishing touch.

lovely! The lightness & color of it is great. The drape in the first picture is fantastic, can't wait to see it blocked! Nice work.
