[Post revised and updated.]
A whole slew of people (see end of post) have been entered for the random draw for a $20 Circles Gift Certificate.
You, too, are invited to enter the draw. Is there a catch? Naturally. Just fill out the questionnaire and post your results in the comments.
The survey will run until Friday, March 3, 2006. I will post the results of the random drawing for the Circles Gift Certificate on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
To see if you won the draw, click here.
I'd like to thank the mistress of Moth Heaven for sending so many of you to this survey. I would also like to thank Persnickety Knitter and Faerie Knits for giving me an unexpected shout-out.
The Personality Types
[Table filled with data and placed here.]
Background
I conceived of surveying knitters because I am fascinated by the relationships
between temperament and both vocation and avocation. The output of
the questionnaire is framed whimsically in terms of Harry Potter characters,
but the underlying assessment is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).
A well-developed description of the MBTI can be found
here. The four categories, represented by the four letters
in the output, are nicely
summarized
within the Wikipedia entry. The sixteen types can be grouped
into four temperaments: Guardians (SJs), Artisans (SPs), Idealists (NFs), and
Rationals (NTs).
Participants as of Saturday, just before dawn

Greetings,
I'm an INTP through and through I guess, that making me Voldemort. That's not bad. I used to think that Hermione was an INTP. Anywhoo. Glad I'm a slytherin!

ENFP -- Fred & George. I think I've always come out ENFP but I'm not sure I identify with Fred & George. How come Hermione doesn't have a personality?

Oh, dear. It seems I'm Severus Snape. Maybe there was a mistake and I'm actually Lucious Lucius? Hmmm???? No?
Dang. I was afraid of that.

Like many others,I'm a Lupin, INFP, sounds about right.
Posted by: Kirsty | 07 March 2006 at 14:33
Well, my first go at it results in an ENFP. So many of the questions I have could have gone the other way. It really was a toss up. So, I'm going back to answer those again and see what happens.

snape for me - intj. interesting, the last time i took a (more extensive) myers-briggs i was infj.

Apparently I'm Gred AND Forge Weasley. Does this make me a shapeshifter, or just confused? *cackle*
I wonder if this means I can enter into the contest twice...or if I do, whether I'll be just as cursed as the twins were in their Triwizard entry?
Here's hoping I win in any case...mama needs a new pair of Addi Turbos. Thanks for letting me know about this Suz, this was fun!

Got the Weasley twins here, ENFP which is consistent with previous results. The short attention span is, sadly, perfectly accurate.
Liza {who doesn't need to be entered into the draw}

Oops, I got a Lord Voldemort, INTP. I didn't want that! oh well.At least I'm not the only one of him.
Posted by: deanb | 02 March 2006 at 17:17
I came up as Remus Lupin. I like him so that feels ok :)
Thanks for the quiz and contest.

Congrats on starting a blog! I did the quiz and I got Minerva McGonagall. Seems reasonably accurate. Thanks for the fun! :)

I seem to be the weasley brother....it always seems i'm someone's twin. i should have been born a gemini i think;> (of course i am always the eviler twin)
Posted by: Jinxsa | 02 March 2006 at 11:22
Tonight I appear to be INTP, and Lord Voldemort. But several of those questions were really fence-sitters; I could have gone either way. I think I'm usually INTJ.

Another Lupin here (which I think is consistent with tests I've taken in the past).
